Now I mostly purchase my craft supplies from Babs but today whilst browsing a local charity shop (Grafton has bloody good ones but that's for another day) I came across a lovely tin full of threads for fine crochet. Some biddy has kept all of these balls of thread in a delightful tin for years of which I am now the proud owner for a mere 6 bucks:
Between this and finding $5 in my winter coat pocket - today has been a very good day!

Before I launch into another entry, I have loaded the photos from the Caroline Sharkey workshop/exhibition here but I am yet to list the names of the creators, so my next entry will have more details about these projects.
Now, last Friday night I thought it was going to be another quiet evening in. However the evening turned out to be quite exciting. Firstly, I photographed another tin to add to the blog collection (yes, that is an exciting event for me).
And here you will see why:
Well, technically I don't keep pins in this tin but I'll bend the rules for beauties such as this. And what does she keep in hear I here you ask? (there's a grammatical error for you Linda!)
And then later in the evening, I was invited to see the band 'Mental as Anything' (well I tagged along with my Mum really) and I thought it would be good. I know quite a few Material Needers who have hummed along to such classics as 'The Nips are Getting Bigger', If You Leave Me Can I Come Too?' and 'Too Many Times' and even Master Chris said how much she loved 'Live it Up' and promised to sing it on Karaoke at the Material Needs Christmas Party. Anyhoo, the band turned out to be really great, sounding as fresh as when they first released the songs.
I tried to get some better shots but it was difficult due to the wild crowd at the club that night but the singer pictured (I think Greedy Smith) was a funny guy. He was dressed in a gold jacket and his keyboard was covered in fur and he kept asking people if they wanted to pat 'the fox'.

I feel I have to post these photos early in order to encourage more readers to come forward. I love a pretty pin tin as much as the next Mrs but when I started attending sewing classes I noticed that lots of Material Needers had the most awesome pin cushions and tins - but worst of all, they didn't even notice, "...this old thing? My Grandmother used to keep her soap in this!" For example, the following pin tin belongs to Linda. I nearly fainted when I saw this little beauty in the background and when I requested that I take a photo I think she thought me slightly odd:

So, any Material Needers (or members of the world wide crafting community) who have these treasures hiding, not getting the attention they deserve, email us a pic to feature - the older and more used the better - none of these mass produced Spotlight specials - I'm talking pretty tins or cushions that you've been stabbing or scratching for years.
